The creators Joseph Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst are concluding on their humorous show about a tight-knit bunch of likable chancers running riot in a rural Lancashire town. One could anticipate the finale to be a nostalgic highlight reel of alcohol, substances, and playful theft. But, the atmosphere turns much more somber as Vinnie (Gilgun) and the gang hole up in a bar with gangster Davey MacDonagh for a final 50th installment apparently inspired by Quentin Tarantino.

All Creatures Great and Small
9pm, Channel 5
The animal-related escapades are all fine, but this superior period drama proves its worth with emotional character development.
