According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for consideration by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating Maxwell is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a news release that the prison’s warden was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her associates to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement indicates that those writing to her would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson noted.

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maxwell told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid intense speculation around the President's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the chief executive to deny the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with room service, with canine interaction, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, relatives or representatives have made any promises to the President or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a response to the questions by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
