Football Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game winning run came to an end by the Black Cats before the international break, but will the English top division leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.
In the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest record, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games over time - but he is not intending a professional return as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend soccer team," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be quite close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.
My son told me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
Their display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not do that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
