Mikel Arteta Praises ‘More Reliable’ Squad and Acknowledges Havertz Setback.
The Gunners' boss feels assured that his squad can keep managing with injury setbacks following confirming that attacker Kai Havertz is not ready for the coming weeks.
Extended Absence for German Star
The Germany international has been out since August due to an operation on his knee. Initially expected to come back sooner, Arteta explained the player encountered a problem when increasing his recovery and failed to reach “the required stage.”
“We took lessons, and managed to assemble a squad that is much more reliable and has greater depth,” Arteta said.
Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash
This update creates a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s fixture at the Emirates against Brentford. A decision is required between sticking with Mikel Merino, who scored playing out of position last weekend, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who came back off the bench off the bench. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus is also available following a lengthy absence.
Fitness Doubts Persist
Further fitness issues surround centre-back William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who were absent for the weekend encounter. Consequently, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié are expected to start again in the backline for the table-toppers.
The manager is convinced the significant outlay on reinforcements during the summer has left Arsenal in a much stronger position to deal with such absences.

Speaking about the setback previously mentioned by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta offered more insight. “He followed all protocols. He could not go to the subsequent stage and now it appears like we have unlocked that.”
He shared his personal desire to welcome him back. “Everyone is eager to have him. I mean, Havertz is someone that, personally, I value highly for what he brings to the team, but his character, his personality. I observe his frustration while sidelined.”
