The latest Far Cry title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in violence and mayhem with the same enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.

Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone series. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our common unconventional, visionary approach to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
